Selection of smartphone is different for different people, Some do not bother to look for a better mobile by functionality, and some are not that much literate to do so. But their is a large number of people who not only look for a better specification but also each and every component of the device.
Nokia at their Top time was highly overpriced, because their was no one to beat them and they had their monopoly, So it was as we just stated and people were left with no choice until android was introduced and provided more features and better choice and along with that Nokia refusing to adopt Android.
Now adays same is true for samsung they are just minting money from customers who just thing the brand name that they are taking is on Top and every device made by them is of top quality, rather to see whether its specification component really worth or not. Here we talk about a little comparison, Lets select few devices from samsung , S3 mini, Samsng galaxy grand, S2 plus, Samsung Galaxy Win, Ace 2, etc.
On the Other hand what we have from Sony is Xperia P, Xperia S, Xperia SL, Xperia Sola, Xperia Go, Xperia J and so on, comparing the prices now Xperia S price is equal to Grand's price, and we see a big difference from the specification as well as the prices of the compnent as they realy worth.

Now if we have to select for the performance or capability , Durability, pricing, their is nono that goes in favor of Samsung Galaxy Grand, but still selling in some numbers, but what happens after a Samsung sustomer see's a happy Sony Xperia S customer very happy and satisfied with the same price? So here is when market changes, and previous happy customer from samsung moves to Sony, and it is the right time for sony to capture samsung stupid strategy of overpricing, since thay have been so sound after their Top better flagship one of its own repte Xperia Z. Now if samsung does not play smart in the market, its surely is going to loose alot of its maret share since they were not able to maintain their flagship popularity they used to get before with consecutive Galaxy S,S2 and S3.
Finally we would say Samsung for its device is overpriced for the brand name it has made, and the software it provides as it was able to load multiple features in touchwiz nature UI. So other brands especially Nokia, Sony, and HTC are good alternatives which are in comparison provide better devices.
