Voice Xtreme V40 Complete Review
On August 29,2013 Voice launched its Quadcore series which performed well and are going good, we have reviewed in depth one of them, Voice Xtreme V60. Voice launched two dual core phones as well, namely V30 and V40. So now here we are with the Copmplete review of Voice Xtreme V40 :). let's have it in TEKREVU style.
Cost Of The Phone
This phone costs about PKR 13,500 in retail, but you can easily get it around 12700 to 13000 depending upon your location and place you buy from, or your ability to bargain :)
Design
The design of the phone is quite simple it neither is very bulky nor the slimmest but its round edges do provide feel of a smartphone that is bundled with all the feature you need for today's use.
The front of the phone has 4.5 inch QHD LCD IPS screen. Comparably large bezel space can be seen on the top and bottom . A 1.3MP front facing camera is located above the IPS display to facilitate video calling. Their is no LED notification light similar to Voice V60
Below the screen lie three capacitive buttons for Android running devices and are sensitive enough and we have good remarks for it.
Moving over to the back of the handset we can see Xtreme V40 logo sitting proudly at the bottom of the handset. While VOICE logo can be seen in the mid half. The 8.0 MP camera module and its accompanying LED flash is located towards the top centre of the Android running phone.It has a removable back cover as expected under which you can spot the dual SIM card slots and a micro SD slot. Black color device has all front color and back black. while back cover is a glossy black plastic, which is shiny and we feel the grip of mobile is not that comfortable and it might be slippery for people who never used glossy back phone. Company should provide a matte black cover instead of white or add another matte finished one as they have done with Voice Xtreme Quadcore V70.

Memory & CPU
The phone comes packed with a mediatek MT6572 1.3 GHz Dual core processor with Mali-400MP GPU.Although box back shows 1.2Ghz but on Antutu benchmark test it shows 1.3 Ghz. One benefit of the device is that it supports apps to be stored to SD card. So memory is not a big issue for this and you can install upto 32 GB card. The details can be seen from these screen shots.
Display
The Voice Xtreme V40 has a 4.5 inch 540p or QHD IPS LCD display(244.7PPI). The viewing angles are quite fair though not the best. Color reproduction is great and brightness is quite good for the normal use. This display has quite nice viewing angles as IPS LCD is renowned for it. It has capacitive touch screen with 5 finger multi touch capacity.
Software
The Voice Xtreme V40 runs Android 4.2.2 under the hood with a custom UI layer on top. Android experince is smooth, as the it is almost Vanilla android OS, The transitions are too fast and we are satisfied with them.
Synthetic Benchmark Scores
Nena Mark 2 Shows a better result but not that good, but it is more then many competitors.
Quadrant Standard Shows adequate result for an entry level dual core

Camera
Voice Xtreme Quadcore V40 is equipped with an 8 MP camera that has ability to can also shoot HD video and thats also at 30fps. This is accompanied by a 1.3MP front facing camera. Our experience with the camera on the V60 was satisfactory considering the price point. You will have to wait a little unless we do our camera test. Stay tuned.
Connectivity
Comes with Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, WiFi and GPS. Though their is only Assisted GPS and no Glonass.
Battery Life
Voice Xtreme Dualcore V40 has 1700 mAH battery. Battery life is quite decent for an average user it will almost work for a day or more but as this is only a guess and depends on the user. but for our usageit was good.
Final Verdict
Voice Xtreme Dual core V40 is a decent phone in terms of the capability. Similar sort of phones was launched with the name Qmobile Noir A9 but with a higher price, so this phone is nice alternative at lower price.
Finally we will say if you are OK with the little heavy weight, and need a mobile with better camera result along with gaming performance this phone is for you. For us this is a better device out of the competing devices and we actually say it is better device in terms of performance and rate it higher compare to others available, but we hope company will consider to improve back side cover that not be finger print magnet + slippery.

DeleteI wonder why does Antutu shows Brand as "alps". Is it generic term for non branded fone. Also why does chines sets have "E-compass" in them? . I regard this feature must have in a smartphone but find it rarely in these phones.
